TERMS & CONDITIONS
Booking Confirmation and Payment
All bookings are final upon receipt of full payment, which must be made by card via our website. Leigh Cookery School operates as a cash-free business, and payments made by cheque or cash will not be accepted. An email confirmation will be sent to secure your spot in the class.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
Clients cannot cancel their bookings once confirmed, and payments are non-refundable due to the limited class size (maximum of 10 participants) and the pre-purchase of ingredients and materials for each session. However, if a client cannot attend, the following options are available for rescheduling or transferring the booking:
-
Rescheduling: Clients may reschedule their booking via the website www.leighcookeryschool.com if a waiting list is in place for a fully booked class. The client’s spot may be offered to the next person on the waiting list, who will have 12 hours to confirm before the spot is offered to the next person on the list. Alternatively, clients may transfer their spot directly to a friend or family member.
-
Transfers: If transferring a booking to another individual, all policy requirements regarding allergens, intolerances, and physical needs must still be adhered to. The new participant’s relevant dietary and health information must be provided in writing to leighcookeryschool@gmail.com at least 10 working days prior to the class.
Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic workstation, following all food safety instructions provided, and clearing down and washing any equipment they use during the class.
Age Requirement
Children aged 8-15 are welcome to attend any class, provided they are accompanied by a full-paying adult who assumes responsibility for the child’s behaviour and adherence to all class rules. For classes designated as ‘Young Chef’s’ classes, which are specifically tailored to children, adults are not required to attend. Individuals aged 16 and over may attend any class independently.
Health and Safety
-
All clients must complete an allergen questionnaire when booking, and any specific dietary or physical needs must be disclosed in writing to leighcookeryschool@gmail.com at least 10 working days prior to the class. No refunds or compensation will be provided for unreported dietary or physical needs.
-
Leigh Cookery School is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from failure to adhere to safety guidelines. Clients will be provided with guidance on the use of equipment, including knives and hot surfaces, and are expected to follow these instructions carefully.
Liability
Leigh Cookery School is committed to providing a safe environment, including guidance and, where necessary, training on the use of potentially hazardous equipment. However, clients are expected to follow all safety instructions, and Leigh Cookery School is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage incurred through non-compliance with these guidelines. Our liability is limited to instances of proven negligence by Leigh Cookery School or its staff.
No Refunds After Class Start
Once a class has begun, no refunds or partial refunds will be issued under any circumstances. In the unlikely event of an emergency requiring class cancellation mid-session (e.g., fire evacuation or other unforeseen safety incidents), refunds will not be provided as all ingredients will have been purchased and venue hire costs are non-recoverable.
Late Admittance, Arrival, and No-Show Policy
-
Timely Arrival: Clients are expected to arrive on time to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted experience for all participants. Late arrivals may not be admitted, and no refunds will be issued for missed sessions due to tardiness.
-
Late Arrival Flexibility: Late arrivals may join the class if it has already started but may not be able to participate in all activities. Recipes will be provided, and ingredients will be available only to clients who arrive within the scheduled class time, enabling them to complete dishes at home.
-
No-Show and Notice of Absence Policy: Clients who do not attend their scheduled class, whether or not notice is provided, will not receive a refund. Clients are responsible for arranging a substitute by transferring their booking to a friend or through the waitlist (if applicable). Leigh Cookery School accepts no responsibility for filling the vacancy. If no substitute is arranged, recipes may be emailed upon request, but ingredients will only be supplied to clients who arrive within the scheduled class time.
Non-Refundable Booking
All bookings are non-refundable once paid. Transfers are only available as outlined above, and cancellations are not permitted.
Exceptional Circumstances
In the case of an emergency or unforeseen circumstance resulting in class cancellation by Leigh Cookery School or Belfairs Academy, clients will receive a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule.
Spectators and Support Persons
Only individuals who have paid for a class may participate. Spectators are not permitted. If a support person is required to attend due to specific needs, this must be communicated in writing to leighcookeryschool@gmail.com at the time of booking for approval. Support persons must adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
Waitlist
A waitlist will be available for fully booked classes. Open spots will be offered to waitlisted clients in order, with each person having 12 hours to confirm.
Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers issued by Leigh Cookery School are valid for a single session and cover the full cost of that session unless otherwise specified. Each voucher has a cash redemption value of £0.01 and is non-refundable.
Gift vouchers are valid for six months from the date of purchase, and the class for which the voucher is redeemed must take place within this six-month period. Bookings made using a gift voucher may be rescheduled once, if necessary, but the rescheduled class must also fall within the original six-month validity. Repeated rescheduling or attempts to roll over to additional future sessions are not permitted; in such cases, the original voucher will be considered redeemed, and full payment will be required to secure a new booking.
After the six-month validity period, unused vouchers will expire, and any remaining value will be forfeited.
Payment
All payments must be made by card via our website. Cheques and cash will not be accepted, as Leigh Cookery School operates as a cash-free business.
