Introduction
Leigh Cookery School is dedicated to the safety and welfare of all children attending our cooking classes. This policy outlines our safeguarding measures in compliance with UK safeguarding legislation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Training

Background Checks: All staff must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Safeguarding During Classes

Secure Environment: Enforce no-spectator policy; only paying clients or approved support persons may attend.

Guided Equipment Use: Instructions and guidance on safe use of equipment provided to minimise risk.
Recognising and Reporting Concerns

Signs of Abuse: Staff are trained to be vigilant for signs of abuse.

Reporting: Any concerns must be reported to the DSL immediately, with action taken as necessary, including contact with relevant authorities.
